Privacy Awareness Week 2025

16 Jun 2025

Privacy – it’s everyone’s business

It’s Privacy Awareness Week (PAW),16-22 June 2025, and this year’s theme is: ‘Privacy - it’s everyone’s business’.

PAW aims to highlight the importance of protecting and respecting personal information, both as community members and as  public sector agencies.

Every year Queenslanders are becoming more interested and invested in their personal privacy and the value of their personal information, given the digital world we live in. The community is also expecting public sector agencies to be doing everything they can to protect the personal information of Queenslanders.

The 2025 PAW theme highlights that both the community and public sector  must take privacy seriously. After all, it’s everyone’s business.

Privacy updates

Commencing 1 July 2025, the Information Privacy and Other Legislation Amendment Act (IPOLA) reforms enhances privacy across the public sector in Queensland.

The changes will better protect personal information, align with Commonwealth privacy principles, and promote transparency in the event of a data breach.

Our Data and privacy breach policy will be updated 1 July to align with the IPOLA reforms.
