Have you already complained to Queensland Police Service about this matter?

We generally require you to have gone through the agency’s complaints management system before you complain to this Office.

If you have not been through the agency’s complaints management system, the Ombudsman may decide not to investigate until you have completed that step.

How will I know if I have been through the agency’s complaints management system?

Good indicators that you have been through an agency’s complaints management system are if you have received at least one of the following:

  • an outcome advice in writing
  • a written response from an officer who is more senior than the one you dealt with initially
  • a written response advising you to complain to the Queensland Ombudsman if you remain dissatisfied, or that the agency will not communicate with you about the matter further.
