Consultation open for West Moreton, Brisbane and Cleveland youth detention centres and Woodford Correctional Centre

13 Mar 2026 News, Inspector of Detention Services

We are currently undertaking a combined inspection of 3 youth detention centres – West Moreton, Brisbane and Cleveland, as well as inspecting Woodford Correctional Centre.

As part of our inspection process, we invite feedback about these centres from people with lived experience, such as:

  • previous detainees
  • staff
  • family members
  • service providers and partner organisations.

Engaging with people directly helps us to understand how detention practices impact people and services provided to those in detention. These insights are essential for informing our recommendations to promote and uphold the humane treatment and conditions of detention and prevent detainees from being subjected to harm.

If you have lived experience at these centres, please contact us at: idsfeedback@ombudsman.qld.gov.au

Consultation closes on Friday 17 April at 5pm.
