Privacy collection notice
The Queensland Ombudsman collects your personal information to respond to your contact or complaint. We collect information from you, and sometimes also from other agencies and people that are relevant to your complaint. This is authorised under the Ombudsman Act 2001.
You have the option to not identify yourself or use a pseudonym when dealing with us. However, if you choose not to provide your name and contact details, we may not be able to respond to you or investigate your complaint. Please call this office on (07) 3005 7000 if you wish to discuss this option.
It may be necessary to give your information to other agencies relevant to your complaint so they can give us a response or take action in relation to your complaint. We may also provide your personal information to others who have the necessary skills and experience to assist us in understanding, analysing or investigating your complaint, such as legal advisors or translators.
We may ask you for information, such as age and cultural background, to help us improve how we engage with communities. You may refuse to provide this information.
We may provide your contact information to a market researcher to conduct a survey when your matter is concluded. This helps us to improve our service. You may refuse to be surveyed.
We will not disclose your personal information to overseas recipients without your consent.
